How to solve your neighborhood.
NookGrid is a daily spatial logic puzzle. Nine places need a home. A handful of notes tell you where they belong.
Arrange a bakery, a cafe, a bookshop and their neighbors on a three by three board. Every note describes a position or a relationship. Combine them until the neighborhood fits.
How three clues fit together
Try these clues from the September 11, 2026 puzzle. Each place occupies one lot on a three by three board.
- Bakery is directly left of Books.
- Bakery and Park are in the same row.
- Books touches sides with Park.
Which place must go in the rightmost lot of that row? Pause here if you want to work it out.
Follow the neighbors
“Directly left” puts Bakery and Books next to each other in one row. The second clue puts Park in that row too.
Park must touch Books. Bakery already occupies the lot on Books’ left, so Park must go on Books’ right. All three places fill the row:
- Bakery
- Books
- Park
These clues determine the order, but not whether it belongs in the top, middle or bottom row. The remaining clues decide that.

Each published puzzle is checked against all 362,880 ways to arrange nine places. Exactly one arrangement must satisfy every clue. Our first calendar runs from September 10 through December 8, 2026. New puzzles arrive at midnight UTC.
A clue with a check fits your current board. It does not promise that those buildings are in their final positions: the other clues still matter. Try a placement, change your mind, or undo a move. Revealing a place is always available if you get stuck.
A comfortable kind of challenge.
There is no countdown or penalty for taking your time. A shared result includes the date and hints used, without showing the answer. Progress stays in your browser. You can play without an account.
Drag places onto lots or back to the tray. You can also tap a place and then a lot. For keyboard play, use Tab to reach a place or a lot, then Enter or Space to select it. Clues use words and symbols as well as color to show their status.
A new, independent experiment.
NookGrid is being developed with AI assistance, original illustrations and code, and automated and manual quality checks. It belongs to the long tradition of grid and placement puzzles. We are testing whether this little daily format is enjoyable enough to return to.
NookGrid has no ads. We may explore clearly separated advertising later to support free play. There is no promise of a subscription, prize or reward.
