Website analytics
The download page does not run PostHog analytics. On the desktop game, How to play and Privacy pages, we use PostHog’s US Cloud to measure visits, traffic sources, clicks and active time, plus game moves, hints and results. It runs by default, using connection information to estimate visits without saving a tracking ID in your browser.
You can turn it off below. We honor previous refusals, Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Turning it off stops new PostHog events; it doesn’t erase past events or stop hosting statistics.
More about analytics and storage
PostHog combines your IP address, browser information and hostname with a daily changing secret, then removes the raw IP and user agent before storing events. We disable location enrichment, person profiles and session replay. These daily estimates can merge visitors and cannot reliably measure return visits across days.
The free PostHog plan provides a one-year analytics window, not a guaranteed deletion deadline; its privacy policy and retention rules apply. Earlier analytics collected with permission used random browser IDs. We keep that history separate and remove old browser IDs where possible.
We send no saved boards, names, emails or feedback text to PostHog. Existing browser saves include your board, moves, hints, solve time, completion state and last play date. Your analytics choice may also be saved locally; we show a warning if saving fails. Blockers and connection failures can prevent measurement.
Private feedback
Feedback notes and puzzle dates are stored by here.now, readable only by the site owner, not other visitors. Our policy is to delete raw feedback and legacy play counts within 30 days after receipt, keeping summaries.
Hosting statistics
here.now receives ordinary request information, including IP addresses, and reports aggregate paths, referrers and countries using daily visitor hashes. This runs independently of play analytics. It says it uses no tracking cookies and shows us no raw IP addresses. See here.now’s privacy policy.
